The first murder in history involved family members–brothers. (Genesis 4:8) And ever since, mankind has been plagued by all kinds of domestic violence. Many victims suffer in silence. Not only is October Breast Cancer Awareness Month, but it is also National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Many victims suffer in silence.
In October, 1987, the first Domestic Violence Awareness Month was observed. The National Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NCADV) says that every home should be a safe home. And rightfully so, for that is the way our Creator originally intended it to be. So important is it that He sets out principles in His Word regarding how each individual family member is to treat one another. (Ephesians 5:28, 33; 6:1) It was not His purpose that families be damaged by problems such as violence or anything else that could harm them.
Happily, God has promised to one day do away with all badness and make all things new. (Revelation 21:4 & 5) Until that time, may we all strive to love our families the way that God instructs us to.
From my heart to yours,
