This post is not to debate if traditional paper books are better than eBooks or vice versa. Personally, I prefer to have a paper book in my hand although I also have a Kindle. I have enjoyed reading and writing as far back as I can remember. When I was younger, my family did not have a television for a while. I had a very vivid imagination. I recall how I used to tie strings to toy cars and pull them through our yard with their make-believe passengers, pretending that they were going for rides in the country (and I had so much fun doing it!) I know you’re laughing–go ahead–it’s okay :).
I don’t remember exactly what triggered my love of reading, but I do know that it’s something I’ve enjoyed doing for most of my life. I recall the bookmobile coming to my school and how excited I used to get. I also signed up for the summer reading program at my local library and spent the majority of my summer vacation from school reading books. My picture was even taken and put in the town newspaper for successfully completing the program.
Both of my children love to read although my husband is not a fan. While my daughter started out at an early age enjoying reading, my son grew to enjoy it a little later in life. Because the majority of people I know who enjoy reading are female, I am fascinated by men who like to read.
But whether you prefer the old-fashioned method or the new and improved one, reading is good for us. It’s good for our brain, and I, for one, can use all the help in that area that I can get :).
HAPPY READING! And as always, this is from my heart to yours.
