EVERYDAY IS OUR ANNIVERSARY

TONY & MAXINE 2 (34TH WEDD ANNIV)My husband Tony never ceases to amaze me! Monday, December 21, 2015, we celebrated our 34th wedding anniversary! This year, due to some unexpected family emergencies that set us back financially, we were not able to have our usual celebratory dinner at our favorite restaurant, Red Lobster in Douglasville, GA, nor initially did we make a big deal of getting one another gifts.

A couple of nights ago, I was at my laptop playing around with some pictures on my online photo editor, Pixlr. Tony was asleep resting for an early morning shift at work, so I decided to add a loving, thoughtful caption on one of our old photos, print it out for him, and put it in a frame. Before going to bed, I placed it on his chest of drawers for him to find when he got up for work. Even though it wasn’t much compared to what I usually get for him, he really liked it!

Tonight, he handed me a beautiful, plastic, pink bag and said, “It’s not much, but I hope you like it. Happy Anniversary.” Surprised, I looked inside the bag and pulled out a gorgeous necklace and earrings set. Then I gave him a hug and a kiss, thanked him, and reminded him that I love him.

As you can probably imagine, after being married for 34 years, we have had our share of ups and downs. But one of the things that has helped our marriage to be a happy one despite problems is striving to treat everyday like it’s our anniversary. While we give each other our needed space, we also value and cherish the time we are able to spend together, especially now that our two children are grown. So this is why we spend time together whenever we can, going to the mountains or just for a short ride together. In doing so, when unexpected events (Eccleiastes 9:11) do come up, we don’t stress so much over them because we took good advantage of the times that were in our favor.

As always, this is from my heart ❤ to yours <3!

THE FLOWER BED

FLOWER BED (MAMA)This is an actual flower bed that I did for my mama several years ago in her front yard.  She spray painted an old, iron bed, and I added the soil and an assortment of colorful flowers.  She no longer has it, but at least, we have some lovely pictures of it.  This is one that she gave me, and I used Pixlr, a free online photo editor, to add the border and lettering.  Thanks for letting me share it with you!

From my heart to yours!

HIDE AND SEEK

HIDE & SEEK 2I was playing around on my Pixlr photo editor tonight, and this is what I created.  Earlier today I had just gotten home from picking up Mama from dialysis when I happened to capture this little, bluish-lavender beauty (it looks like a morning glory) trying to hide from me beneath one of my hydrangea bushes.  It’s so tiny that I almost didn’t see it at first; hence, the name of this photo, Hide & Seek.

Thanks for letting me share my photos with you.  Good night!

From my heart to yours,

Maxine

HIS EYES ARE ON THE SPARROWS

SPARROW BOOK COVER 3“You are worth more than many sparrows.”

(Matthew 10:31)

After dropping Mama off for her dialysis treatment this morning, I spent a few minutes thanking God for everything that He’s done and continues to do for my family and me.  My mama has had a hard life, but God has had His eyes on her every step of the way.

As some of you may know, I am working with her on writing her autobiography.  This is a picture of the cover that I designed and created thanks to a great free online photo editor called PIXLR.  Mama and I are having so much fun working on this project.  Since it’s still a work in progress, I don’t yet have an exact release date, but I’m hoping for later this year, 2015, or the early part of next year, 2016.

Mama has had several close encounters with death, but she is still enduring.  There was a particularly scary situation nearly two years ago when we came extremely close to losing her, and the ER physician said we got her to the hospital just in time.  So I thought there could be no better title for her book than HIS EYES ARE ON THE SPARROWS.  Something happened that night that, although it wasn’t funny at the time, my family and I now occasionally talk about it and laugh.  And I’ve threatened Mama that if she does not share it in her book, I will :).

The staff at the dialysis center where Mama goes for her kidney treatment takes very good care of her.  Not only is she forever grateful to them, but so are my family and I.  And knowing everything she’s been through, nobody can tell me that God does not answer prayers and keep His eyes on the sparrows.

As always, this is from my heart to yours,

Maxine
