SMALL BEGINNINGS

PINEToday, I met Stephanie who works for Tanner Medical Center.  She was so nice, and I fell in love with her beautiful plants, the Norfolk Pine and tropical fern.  The Norfolk Pine below is 20 years old.  The photo on the left is a close-up of one of its branches.  If you look closely, you can see the tender new growth proudly sprouting from the top of the tree.

The pictures below are of two smaller pines in her office.  They are both five years old.

This last one is the tropical fern.  Initially, I thought it was plastic because the leaves are so flawless except for two tiny brown spots.

FERNIt’s plain to see that Stephanie takes very good care of her plants.  They came from small beginnings but continue to thrive due to her constant and earnest efforts.  Thanks again, Stephanie, for showing me around and letting me take pictures.  I look forward to seeing you again and talking with you.

From my heart to yours,

Maxine 🙂

MY INSPIRATION

FLOWER BED 4I had a great day today!  It got started early when I went out in the ministry in my community.  I regularly meet some really nice people, and I gain so much inspiration from many of them.  The picture above was the beginning of my inspiration this morning.  The homeowners were kind enough to let me snap some photos of their beautiful flower bed.

The photo below is part of the front lawn of a very sweet sister and her husband in my congregation.  I love crepe myrtles, so I simply could not resist snapping this shot.

CREPE MYRTLES (SIS HORNE)This last one, I took several months back while in another beautiful neighborhood.

FLOWERS 3I’m always just so amazed at the creativity of different people.  It just makes me appreciate all the more that as humans, we were made in the wonderful image of our great and awesome God.  (Genesis 1:27)

Have an awesome weekend!

From my heart to yours,

Maxine 🙂

THOSE AMAZING WEEDS

DANDELION (YELLOW)How do you feel about dandelions?  Most people hate them because they are those pesky weeds that just won’t go away!  Yet, I actually consider them to be beautiful in appearance, and it is said that these herbs can also contribute to our health and diet.

I also find the dandelion fluff pleasing to my eyes.  They resemble little, tiny parachutes floating throughout the earth’s atmosphere.  When I was a little girl, I would pick the plants and release my breath onto them until all their little, fluffy, white thistles had been released into the sky.

It is just so amazing to me how even the simplest of things that our Creator gave us can bring such a wealth of joy and inspiration to our lives.  He’s pretty awesome, don’t you think?  (Psalm 96:4)

DANDELION FLUFFAnd I hope you have an awesome day!  As always, this is from my heart to yours.

ANOTHER DAY IN THE PARK

PARK BENCH 3Hi, everybody!  Today, I took my first walk in the park in over two weeks.  I’ve missed my walks.  It was so refreshing to be back out there again even though it was a little hotter than usual.  I hope you enjoy some of my photos from today and a couple of weeks ago, including a few of my own plants.

In the third one below, look for the little, star-shaped, black and white insect on one of the leaves on the right.  I was so fascinated by it because I had never before seen anything like it–so fascinated that I got close enough to take this picture–whereas, any other time, I would have hurt myself trying to run from it :).

And finally, the last three are some of my outdoor plants.

Have a wonderful evening!

From my heart to yours,

Maxine

TASTE OF PARADISE

PARK“I made gardens and orchards for myself.” (Ecclesiastes 2:5)

I just love natural creation!  Whenever I go walking in the park, I stop several times to snap pictures of some of it that I see along the way.  Now that I’m retired, it seems that I can slow my pace and enjoy so many wonderful things that I never had the time or energy to before.  As a result, it has helped me to have a deeper appreciation for the life our Creator has blessed me with and that which is to come.  Everyday that I live, I get to experience a taste of paradise.  I hope you enjoy my pictures.  Have an awesome, awesome weekend!  🙂

From my heart to yours,

Maxine
