My baby (my 28-year-old son) 🙂 will not eat green beans unless I cook them in a casserole! I promised him earlier in the week that I would cook him one today. Of course, I had to remind him to leave some for his dad and me :).
If you have kids who hate their green beans, this may be an excellent way to get them to eat this tasty, little vegetable. Besides the obvious (green beans), it’s chocked full of cheese, cream of mushroom, and onion rings. And since my family and I are cheese lovers, I always add more cheese than my recipe calls for :).
The recipe I’ll be sharing with you, I got about 30 years ago from a co-worker. I’m sure you can tell from the appearance that I’ve had it a while. But I don’t even need the recipe now because I know it by heart. This is the only way I make my green bean casserole, and it turns out great every time! Plus it’s so simple, not to mention cheap, to make. So far, I’ve only come across two people who don’t like it. However, that was several years ago, so I don’t know whether or not they would still feel that way today.
Anyway, here are some more pictures of the one I made today, plus a copy of my worn-out recipe :). I hope you and your family enjoy it as much as mine.
Take care, and have an awesome day! And as always, this is from my heart ❤ to yours <3!
Maxine 🙂
P.S. I just noticed where the amount of cheese is not clear in the middle of the recipe, and since I’m too lazy to fix it and take another picture, I’ll just put the amount here: 1/2 cup cheese–but if you’re like me, it doesn’t matter what the recipe says because you’ll put however much you want :).
